Sunset in the Namib Desert, Namibia.
The Namib Desert, or Namib for short, is considered to be the oldest desert in the world. The approximately 200 kilometre wide sand desert stretches from north to south along the Atlantic coast of Namibia over a length of approximately 2000 kilometres, from Angola in the north to the Orange River in the south.
The Namib Desert is part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, which is the largest wildlife park in Africa. Along the coast is a sandy sea that will be considered a world heritage site from 2013.
