At Arendshoofd in Lake Grevelingen, a serene sunrise unfolds. The still water reflects the warm colours of the sky, where soft cloudscapes in shades of orange, pink and purple frame the horizon. In the middle of the scene, the wooden piles of the Arendshoofd rise up, a striking remnant from the days of former shipping links. What was once a functional structure is now a recognisable silhouette in the water and a favourite object for photographers and nature lovers.
Lake Grevelingen is Western Europe's largest saltwater lake, created after the construction of the Grevelingendam and the Brouwers Dam in the 1960s. This transformed the former estuary into a unique nature and recreation area. The silence of the early morning at the Arendshoofd emphasises that special atmosphere: the play of light, water and air constantly creates a new spectacle.
The reflection of the wooden poles in the mirroring water enhances the feeling of harmony and stillness. This is a place where nature, hydraulic history and photography come together beautifully.
