The summer of 2018, an almost Mediterranean summer that ensured that here in Amsterdam you could dine outside regularly until late at night. And that can be particularly atmospheric on this Bloemgracht.
The Bloemgracht in the Amsterdam Jordaan connects the Prinsengracht with the Lijnbaansgracht and runs between and parallel to the Nieuwe Leliestraat and the Bloemstraat in the Amsterdam-Centre district. The moat is named after the Bolwerk de Bloem, later called Rijkeroord. From 1614 there stood mill de Blom, which was moved to the Haarlemmerweg in 1878.
The canal, as part of the Jordaan, was constructed in the first half of the 17th century during one of Amsterdam's major urban expansions; the so-called Third Explanation.
