About "Summer beech forest at Werbellinsee in Joachimsthal"

by Silva Wischeropp

About the artwork

During my morning hike through the forest at Werbellinsee in Joachimsthal, I discovered this dense, lush green beech forest
with slender, tall and imaginative tree trunks.
The photographic nature shot was taken with the NIKON D800 camera (lens: NIKKOR 24.0-70.0 mm f/2.8) in the late morning hours of 26 June 2025.

Lake Werbellin is surrounded by extensive deciduous forests, especially beech forests, which are part of the Schorfheide, one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Germany and part of the UNESCO Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. These forests offer a wide range of leisure activities such as hiking and walking, with the Alteichenpfad trail being a highly recommended route.

The forests around the lake are known for their diversity of forest types and their protected nature. This includes the Grumsin beech forest, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
The deciduous forests are ideal for a variety of activities, including hiking on designated trails such as the Ancient Oak Trail. There are also numerous opportunities for cycling tours and walks.
