Stunning autumn colours in Singen, Germany

by Erik Jan Kaper

I’m travelling in Singen, Germany, and saw these beautiful autumn colours of the trees in the local park, reflected in the water.
What you see are the trees in late October, changing colour en masse and shedding their leaves.
This is truly a photograph that would suit any room in the house.
Here, too, I have once again tried to create some depth by using an aperture that allowed me to blur the leaves in the foreground slightly, whilst keeping the centre of the photo in focus.
I sometimes use this method when a photo lends itself to it.
Macro shots and portraits, for example, are the sort of photos that really need to be perfectly sharp.
In this case, however, I think it looks better if the leaves in the foreground aren’t too sharp, as I feel that creates a bit of noise. It also brings out the colours better.
I do have a version of the photo where everything is in focus, but I’ve opted for this one instead.
Sometimes I do wonder: aren’t the colours a bit too vivid? However, the colours in real life were also stunningly vivid.
The blue sky ultimately complements its contrasting colour, yellow, very well.
In short, I hope to make someone happy with the result.
I always use Photoshop to edit my photos, but I don’t use AI.
