Sequioa tree struck by lightning in a forest with sunrays. Sometimes a damaged tree can be the eye-catcher in a forest and this tree had probably been hit by lightning and a strip of bark had come of all the way from the top of the tree to the foot. Whilst damage is always a sad thing to see in a tree, it is also part of nature and I did not want to photograph just perfect tree trunks. This had to be the main subject in my photograph and when sun rays started to appear, the trees in the background became a little bit more hidden in the haze and that is when I took the photograph. I turned this into a black and white because the shades of brown only distracted from the sun rays and the bright line on the tree
