Striped Bowl with Pomegranates

by Marieke Wouters

‘Striped Bowl with Pomegranates’ captures the beauty of the everyday moment. A simple bowl, filled with pomegranates, is elevated in this handmade collage to a colourful still life full of tranquillity and focus. The warm reds of the fruit, the soft pink of the bowl and the fresh greens in the background combine to create an image that feels both playful and harmonious. The piece exudes a sense of slowing down, as if time stands still for a moment to appreciate the little things that make a day special.

The collage evokes an atmosphere of simplicity, homeliness and mindfulness of the moment. The pomegranate symbolises abundance, life and connection, whilst the stylised forms and vibrant colours add a lightness that invites daydreaming. The work appeals to lovers of colourful art who wish to bring warmth and optimism into their homes.

This collage combines different types of paper, hand-torn shapes and carefully chosen blocks of colour. The visible torn edges and layered composition give the work a tactile quality and emphasise its handcrafted nature. It is precisely this imperfection that makes the collage vibrant and authentic.

This artwork is perfectly suited to a modern interior, a Scandinavian-style home, a colourful eclectic interior or a Mediterranean-inspired décor where natural materials and warm accents come together. It appeals to art lovers who appreciate contemporary collage art, colourful still lifes and art inspired by the simple life.
