About the artwork

There’s a kind of quiet chaos to this scene. What used to be a notice board is now a layered patchwork of torn posters and peeling paper, all left to decay in the sun. The black-and-white format highlights the texture — crumpled edges, curling fragments, and the faint outlines of what once was. The tonal contrast between the bright whites of the torn paper and the deep blacks of the weathered board gives the photo a dramatic, almost abstract look. At the top, “SPQR” is boldly written, reminding you that you’re still in Rome, even if the message below is long gone. Composition-wise, the image is dead-centered, symmetrical in structure but full of messy, organic detail. There’s something compelling about how time and weather have turned this ordinary surface into a rough collage. The play between light and shadow adds depth, giving the image weight despite its everyday subject. It feels like history slowly peeling away — a moment where nothing is happening, yet everything shows.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
