Threatening clouds approach on this changeable autumn day in Den Helder, on the coast near Fort Kijkduin. The pile heads do their job as breakwaters.
The purpose of this photo was to capture the threat of approaching bad weather, but without the choppy waves. Think of it as stillness before the storm. Therefore, a slower shutter speed was chosen to give the water in the foreground some calm.
An added bonus in this photo are the two surfers in the background. They add some colour to the picture with their colourful sails.
