Storm Eunice at its peak on the beach. In the foreground, windblown sand and the wind in the grass in the dunes. In the background the raging sea can be seen. It is clear to see that the wind is tremendously strong and that a kind of sandstorm is raging over the entire beach. Nothing stands still.
At the height of storm Eunice, I went to the beach. To go kiteboarding, which I love to do, was just a bit too far for me with this wind. So then out with the camera! I had never felt such a strong wind before! I could only walk in 1 direction on the beach and that was with the wind. I am not exaggerating. It was impossible to walk the other way because of all the flying sand. Taking this picture was already a daunting task. Quickly cleaning the lens and turning it against the wind. A few seconds before the lens was completely covered in salt and sand again. I had to use the camera as a shield for the sand and hold it tightly otherwise it would blow away. Really impressive to see and feel these forces of nature at work.
At the beginning of 2021, I started living close to the sea, in The Hague. Since then I am at the beach almost every day. To kiteboard or with my camera. The nice thing about visiting the same place in nature so often is that small differences start.. Read more…
