About ‘Stone cairns on the Baltic Sea beach’ by Holger Felix

Cairns on the beach are piles of stones stacked on top of one another. Nowadays, they mostly serve as holiday souvenirs, creative works of art or symbols expressing a desire to leave a personal mark. Unfortunately, they harm the natural environment of the beach, as many small creatures – such as crustaceans, arachnids and insects – live amongst the stones. Removing the stones alters the protection of the seabed and accelerates coastal erosion. Furthermore, endangered plants and lichens growing on the stones are destroyed. Nevertheless, our children look forward to that wonderful moment of stacking the many different shapes found in the sea of stones on the Baltic Sea beach.

I started with a simple roll film camera in b/w, model Pouva Start from 1952. In my late youth I got my first analog SLR camera. Today I am using products from Canon.
