Kasteel Sterkenburg is a Ridderhof city in the former municipality of Sterkenburg near Driebergen-Rijsenburg, now part of the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug in the Dutch province of Utrecht.
History
The oldest mention of Sterkenburg dates from 1261, when it was decided that Count Otto II of Gelre of the Bishop Hendrik van Vianden from Utrecht would get the "Castrum Langebruch" (or castle in Langbroek). The Sterkenburg Castle would remain a loan of Gelre for many centuries, the lands were loan to the bishop.
