A statue of Queen Wilhelmina stands on the boulevard in Noordwijk aan Zee. The statue is made of bronze by the sculptor Kees Verkade. The statue stands on a stone socle which is placed in a basin. The statue was donated to the municipality of Noordwijk in 2000 by the jubilee Hotels van Oranje. The monument was unveiled in May of that year by Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, former adjutant of the queen, who was assisted by Jos Mulder-Gemmeke, also Hazelhoff carrier of the Military William Order.
The text on the shield reads: KONINGIN WILHELMINA - As she inspected the stationed troops in Noordwijk on 4 April 1940. Unveiled on 7 May 2000 by 'The Soldier of Orange' Mr Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema. Offered on the occasion of the 15-year anniversary of the Hotels van Oranje. The sculptor used a photo of the inspection taken on April 4, 1940, near the spot where the statue now stands.
