About the artwork

"Staring at the reflection: two spiral shells looking at their own reflections" is a macro photo of two beautiful spiral shells/ spiral snail shells. This type of shell/snail shell is called: " Phoenicobius Aratus".
Because the spirals are pointed downwards, they look like eyes looking at their own reflection. The reflection is created in the substrate because the material is reflective. Because it also contains a structure, it creates a broken painterly abstract reflection. This contrasts nicely with the sleek smooth shells. The background is very dark brown. This makes the shells stand out nicely and get all the attention.
The depth of field in this photo has been kept small so the shells are sharp at the front (near the spiral), and the further back you look, the fainter they become. This adds calmness to the photo.
This still life of two shells could, for example, hang beautifully as a wall decoration in the dining room, kitchen or, of course, just above the sofa! (Also beautiful in business locations such as on the wall in a meeting room, office waiting room or practice room!)
