Scottish Highlanders are built to live outside all year round. They are hardy and adapt easily to the circumstances. Highland cattle eat a lot in the summer. They then produce a thick layer of fat. This layer of fatty tissue is a source of energy to get them through the winter months. Furthermore, the winter fur forms an extra 'coat' that protects them from wind and weather.
