A portrait format photo of St Gillis Church in Bruges as seen from the Potterierei.
While walking to the Centre of Bruges along the Langerei, I found this lovely scene. We are looking down the Sint-Gilliskoorstraat towards the beautiful Gothic church. The church is framed by the beautiful medieval houses of the Langerei, including one with the well-known stepped gable.
Besides this colour version with its mainly orange-brown tones, this photo is also available in a black-and-white version.
Some facts:
- St Gilles' Church is the only church in the city centre to have a tower clock.
- Numerous artists such as Hans Memling, Lanceloot Blondeel and Pieter Pourbos were buried here
- The church dates from the 13th century and was rebuilt in the 15th century
- The architectural style is sturdy brick Gothic
- The interior of the church has a 19th century neo-Gothic look
