Weeping willow Salix babylonica (synonym: Salix pendula) is a tree of the willow family (Salicaceae).
The weeping willow can usually reach a height of 10 to 15 metres. Its shiny brown branches are drooping, hence the name Weeping Willow. The leaves are about 5-10 cm long. The top of the leaf is green and the underside is bluish green.
The Golden Weeping Willow is often planted and is a cross between Salix alba and Salix babylonica.
