About ‘Spiritual beauty in gold’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

Bathed in the golden light of the sunset, the main chedi of Wat Phra That Sorn Kaew rises like a vision between heaven and earth. Millions of tiny mosaic tiles and ceramic fragments catch the last light of day, transforming the temple complex into a shimmering sea of colours, reflections and quiet magic. Every single facet tells a story of devotion, faith and the longing for inner peace.
The immense golden forms appear almost weightless, as if they were slowly growing into the evening sky. Between the ornate arches and luminous decorations lies a deep tranquillity that makes one forget the noise of the world. The temple does not seem to have been built, but rather to have been formed from light and prayers.
As the sun sinks behind the Khao Kho mountains, the complex begins to glow like a precious treasure amidst the Thai landscape. For a moment, time and reality blur. All that remains is a sense of wonder at the beauty of a place where spirituality, art and nature come together in perfect harmony – a quiet moment between transience and eternity.
