This painting (acrylic on canvas) originally measured 40 x 50 centimetres.
It was worked exclusively with palette knives.
The style of the work is abstract, with elements of Futurism and Cubism.
Technically, it mainly used ''grattage'' (literally: scraping). More precisely, grattage with a palette knife in the still wet paint. This technique produces organic (or: biomorphic) forms.
Grattage was invented and applied in the middle of the last century by Max Ernst and Antonio Saura, among others.
The repetition of shapes in the painting was inspired by Futurism. There, repetitions were used to depict movement and/or sound.
This painting depicts music (sound waves and rhythm). The warm orange-red tones represent timbre; the darker ones (blue-grey and black) represent rhythm.
