This photo art piece pays homage to a soft pink dog rose that grows near my house here in Central Italy. The dog rose, or rosa canina, is a climbing plant. It has hooked prickles that allow it to climb up through other shrubs and even cling on to the side of mountain slopes where other plants fail. Common in Europe, this climbing rose attracts all sorts of pollinators and is always covered in insects. As well has having delicate pink and white petals with a yellow centre, the flowers have a sweet scent. As the flowers come to an end they transform into gorgeous red rose hips.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
