Even during the winter and sometimes even as early as December, you can find the Gewoon sneeuwklokje, Galanthus nivalis, not only in many gardens, but also in parks and forests. It is traditionally seen in our regions as the first messenger of the coming spring. The beautiful bell-shaped flowers often protrude above the last snow and they can form considerable carpets. It can be recognized by: the blue-green ground-shaped leaves, the single flower per stem, where the outer flower petals are longer than the inner and the transversely curved spot on the three inner flower petals.
