Smoked fish: a traditional culinary masterpiece in chiaroscuro by Fotografiecor .nl

Bring the authentic, artisanal feel of Dutch fishing culture into your home with this atmospheric culinary work of art. The ‘unique feature’ of this photograph is the intense ‘chiaroscuro’ lighting effect: against a deep, jet-black background, the golden-brown, glossy textures of the freshly smoked fish stand out beautifully. The rhythmic repetition of the fish hanging from the smoking rack creates a powerful, graphic composition that immediately catches the eye.

This image pays tribute to the centuries-old craft of fish smoking. It captures a moment of tranquillity and craftsmanship, in which the fleeting scent of wood smoke becomes almost tangible within the image. It is a celebration of the rich maritime history and local culinary traditions that I am keen to preserve for posterity through my camera.

This atmospheric piece brings warmth and character to a country kitchen, an authentic fish restaurant or an industrial-style dining room. The image is shown to its best advantage on glossy plexiglass (for deep black contrast) or sturdy canvas (for an authentic, painterly look).

Add a powerful, culinary statement to your interior. Order this unique, handcrafted work of art and bring the character of fishing culture into your home.
