the slavery monument on Curacao at st. willibrordus. There are monuments on 7 locations. The next time I go back to Curacao "mag", I will look for the others. Beautiful still current monument on beautiful spot. This is on the occasion of the life of the slave Tula, who demanded freedom in 1795 because slavery was abolished on Haiti. Unfortunately they had huge fights, battles even and finally Tula was robbed and beheaded. In 1863 slavery was abolished on Curacao. Tula made sure that there were laws that the slaves were better treated. But the real abolition was much later.
