About "Silent witnesses - The dilapidated staircase into darkness"

by Infinite Decay

About the artwork

This abandoned staircase leads into the depths of a dilapidated building, where the light barely reaches the walls and the atmosphere is characterised by decay and oblivion. The walls are covered in peeling plaster, crumbling down in thick layers and leaving traces of a long period of disuse. The daylight that falls into the room through a small window creates a stark contrast and emphasises the rough textures of the walls, which present themselves like a canvas of transience. The atmosphere is heavy, almost oppressive, and the viewer senses the stories that this place carries within it.

This staircase seems like a gateway to a bygone world, a silent witness to days that are long gone. Every step that once sounded on these steps is now just a distant memory, slowly but surely being erased by nature. The play of shadows and the crumbling walls evoke a sense of awe and mystery that fills the space and invites the viewer to pause. This sight symbolises the transience of buildings and the unstoppable force of time.
