High above, where heaven and earth almost touch, stands this skilfully forged memorial cross to Josef Böck, the master shepherd of the rear Seealpe. It is a silent guardian of a landscape that is hard to beat in terms of beauty. The view sweeps from the Zeigersattel down to the emerald-green Seealpsee, embedded in lush greenery and framed by the rugged peaks of the Allgäu Alps. To the left, the striking Höfats rises proudly, its flanks appearing steep and unapproachable. Behind it towers the main ridge of the Allgäu with its mighty peaks - Trettachspitze, Mädelegabel, Bockkarkopf and Hochfrottspitze - whose names have inspired awe and admiration for centuries.
The cross tells of a life that was closely linked to this landscape. Josef Böck spent his summers up here, in harmony with the animals, the seasons and the untamed power of the mountains. His memory remains alive in this place, carried by the wind and silence, accompanied by the play of the clouds and the voices of nature. Those who linger here feel that memory and nature flow into one another - a silent legacy that points far beyond the heights of the Allgäu.
