I took this picture during a hike in the wooded area of the Belgian Ardennes, a region known for its vast forests, rolling hills and mysterious atmosphere.
What immediately catches the eye is the old rampart of stacked stones in the foreground. This carefully constructed structure, presumably once intended as an inheritance fence or boundary wall, forms an intriguing contrast to the rugged, untouched nature around it.
While the stones testify to human presence and history, the lush greenery, jagged tree roots and soft moss in the background show the strength and ongoing recovery of nature.
This contrast between culture and nature, between the permanent and the ephemeral, gives the picture a special layering and invites reflection.
