About the artwork

This dreamlike shot directly under the tall giant palms was taken in the late afternoon of 18 April 2022 in the Botanical Gardens of Palermo on the island of Sicily. The seated figure of a youth in the fountain radiates a proud grace and prudence. The spring day with its warming sun could not be more beautiful. Splendid blossoms wherever the eye looks. Especially the Sicilian "Primavera" with its mild temperatures is perfect for an extensive and relaxing walk through the exotic garden world.
The Palermo Botanical Garden (Italian: Orto Botanico di Palermo) is a garden complex that is used both by the University of Palermo as a teaching and research facility and is also available to interested visitors. The gardens currently house around 12,000 different species. Created in the second half of the 19th century, the gardens were the model for a whole series of large botanical gardens in Northern Europe. Because of Palermo's mild climate, it was possible to cultivate a large number of plants from all over the world that had previously been rare or unknown in Europe. Through the mediation of Adolf Engler, there was also a lively exchange with the Botanical Garden in Berlin. From the conservatory, especially in spring, one can enjoy a dreamlike view of the palms and numerous exotic tree species swaying in the splendid, mild sunlight. The Giardino d'Inverno (Winter Garden) is home to a whole range of species that otherwise only thrive in the warm climates of Africa, Central America, South America, Asia and Australia. Among them are: Coffee plants, papaya, a number of bougainvillea, cinnamon plants as well as mimosa.
It is a true contrast to the bustling and lively Sicilian capital Palermo and guarantees relaxation. Botanical picture motifs are the perfect complement for nature lovers and lend a meditative mood to the living and working space.
