The Scottish Highlander is often used as a grazer in nature reserves. Due to its thick, long-haired coat, the cattle can withstand extreme weather conditions. The animals often live in larger groups and are not dangerous by nature. Except when there are calves in the herd, because then the mother can be very protective.
