Scheherazade (1915) by Henry Lyman Sayen.

Henry Lyman Saÿen worked his entire career as an artist and scientist. He acquired several patents for his inventions, including a new type of X-ray tube and a steel billiard ball. He traveled to Paris in 1906 to create illustrations for a New York department store and joined Henri Matisse's class. Saÿen was one of the first painters to introduce modern art to Philadelphia's conservative culture, and his large vivid depictions of landscapes and still lifes shocked many people. One department store assistant even told the artist that "if you paint like that, you will never put shoes on your child's feet." World War I forced Saÿen to return to Philadelphia, where he spent his weekends at his friend Carl Newman's summer home, painting the landscape of Huntington Valley.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
