This photograph of the Savels forest, taken in May 2025, shows a beautiful, sunny field covered with bright yellow flowers that sparkle happily in the warm light of the spring sun. Young trees, neatly planted and carefully supported, create a subtle rhythm that gently guides your eye across the image. To the right, a small, almost hidden path winds among the grass, inviting you to follow and further explore the mysteries of the forest.
My inspiration for this work came from memories of long summer afternoons from my childhood. Lying on my back, a blade of grass between my teeth and listening to the gentle buzzing of bees and insects, I experienced pure freedom. This moment in South Limburg, with its unique rolling landscape and rich nature, took me back to those days.
With this work, I mainly wanted to capture a sense of tranquillity and simple happiness. The soft colours and calm nature give a sense of warmth and relaxation. It is an invitation to pause for a moment, take a deep breath and consciously enjoy the small wonders around us.
When shooting, I used natural light to render the vivid colours as purely as possible. By deliberately choosing a panoramic crop, I emphasise the vastness and openness of the field. In an interior, this work brings in light and cheerfulness, evoking memories of carefree summer days. Ideal for anyone longing for a piece of nature and inner peace at home.
