Shot of model Ginny in the dunes of the Kwade Hoek on Goeree.
The intention of this photo was to represent a kind of butterfly by having her throw up sand that she picks up from the bottom and releases as she rises. In doing so, it was essential that she stand on her toes, extend her left leg and, as in a ballet pose, raise her right leg, her genitals being extracted by the thrown up sand. The model's facial expression is concentrated, which she herself did not like at first, I think that is precisely what determines the strength of this photograph.
Despite the dynamics, the photo exudes tranquility and stateliness.
The shot was taken on a late afternoon in August.
The viewer should be impressed by the strength of the model, which is enhanced by her posture and by the fact that she is standing on her toes, making her appear even taller. The technique of the photograph should elicit admiration, the viewer should wonder how the photograph was created. That is the power of this image, it produces a photo that attracts attention, the nudity of the model is actually secondary, the power of the image is derived from the pose and the use of shades of gray. The photo can be used anywhere, preferably in a light environment and may be hung very large on the wall.
I deliberately chose a black and white approach, as this increases the power of the photograph. The photo was originally in color, the colors were converted to black and white in Photoshop.
If you like nature, combined with a nude figure, this is a photo for you.
