A glorious sunrise at the mountain lake Salei, at 1923 metres above sea level.
Here in the sunny canton of Ticino, in Switzerland, the larch trees are already starting to show more colour in the first week of October. This is the sign that autumn is really coming.
Near the lake is the manned mountain hut Calanna Salei. An excellent place to spend the night high above the beautiful Valle de Vergeletto valley. From this valley, you can reach the hut and the little lake via the cable car.
We came from the other side, using the village of Spruga at 1112 metres as our starting point. Via a beautiful walk through the woods, you then reach the lake via the southern slope. Highly recommended.
