While on holiday in the south of France, I was struck by the soft colours and nostalgic atmosphere of this old merry-go-round. Among all the light and movement, these two horses in particular stood out - standing still, but full of character. I took a picture of them, intuitively, because the image did not let me go. As an extra touch, I added an extra layer to the image: a photo of a weathered church wall that I captured during the same trip. I subtly laid that texture over the image, creating more depth and layering. The combination of the playful and the lived-in makes this work special: a combination of childlike wonder and the traces of time. An image to look at longer - and discover something new in it each time. Ideal for those who love soft vintage colours, subtle details and a touch of nostalgia.
