About ‘Room with a view’ by Edwin Mooijaart

Of all the photographs I have ever taken in Norway, this is one that moves me every time. A red rorbuer, the traditional Norwegian fisherman's cottage on stilts, stands on the rocks at the waterside of the Lofoten Islands. And above it: one of the most spectacular northern lights displays I have ever witnessed. Bright green and turquoise ribbons of light move across the dark mountain peaks behind the cottage, their reflection barely visible in the still water below. The cottage itself is lit from within, its windows glowing warm orange like an invitation from someone awake while the world outside their roof ignites. That combination of human warmth and cosmic spectacle is what makes this photograph so special to me. I was fortunate that the sky was clear that night, because weather on the Lofoten can change with tremendous speed. With a long exposure I captured the moving aurora waves as flowing ribbons of colour. The low vantage point from the rocks gives the composition a stable foundation and emphasises the fragility of the small cottage against the vast sky above. This work is an absolute showstopper in any space. Ideal for a large wall in a living room or bedroom, preferably with a calm, Scandinavian or modern interior.

My photography is about light and atmosphere — that brief moment when a place reveals itself. I shoot landscapes, forests and cities, but only when the conditions make it worthwhile: a fiery sunrise, a glowing sunset, thick morning mist or the blue hour when sky and artificial light hold each other in perfect balance. Flat midday light with a cloudless sky is not for me — I'm chasing something magical, something fleeting.

That search takes me from Dutch polders…

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
