This elaborate depiction shows three Roman wind musicians, known as aeneatores, in full costume. On the left is a tubicen with his long tuba, in the centre a bucinator with the curved bucina and on the right a cornicen with the circular cornu. The musicians are wearing typical Roman armour, some with wolf or bear skins over their shoulders, indicating that they belonged to military units. The deep red background with golden lettering lends the picture a noble, historical atmosphere.
