About ‘Rice cultivation in Vietnam’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

In the middle of the endless expanse of a rice paddy, where life pulsates to the gentle rhythm of nature, she stands there - a Vietnamese woman in a graceful, bent posture, united with the land that nourishes her. Her body is like a living sculpture, moulded by centuries of hard work and a deep connection with the earth.
An Asian conical hat made of golden straw clings to her head, a symbol of humility and reverence for the forces of nature. Under its protection, her face looks like a map of stories and experiences, characterised by sun, wind and rain.
Her hands are skilful and experienced, immersed in the soft mud of the paddy field as she lovingly tends the tender seedlings. Every move is an act of devotion, a tribute to the centuries-old tradition of rice cultivation that is deeply rooted in the culture and history of Vietnam.
Around her, the stalks dance in the gentle breeze, a sea of green life swaying in the light of the rising sun. The buzzing of insects and the chirping of birds form the soundtrack to this idyllic scene, while the air is filled with the scent of fresh grass and damp earth.
In this one snapshot, time seems to stand still and I feel like a silent observer of a timeless ritual that has nourished the soul of this land for generations. For in this image, the essence of Vietnam is revealed - a deep connection with nature, the beauty of simplicity and the unwavering strength of the human spirit that always finds a way to flourish and thrive in the midst of life's adversities.
