Visions from a future past.

Depiction of a colossal marine facility, it's centerpiece being a plankton harvester ; water rich in microorganisms is pumped up and after filtration ejected back in the ocean.

Through the fog one can see shipping spires behind it, airborne transportation of the resources gathered in this location can be seen docking at the tips of them, they may be coming or going.

In foreground we can see two similar structures flanking it and in the foreground a a humble ocean trawler, fishing in a manner we're a bit more familiar with in the present day, it serves as a contrast illustrating small scale vs mass scale industry.

The whole is illuminated by a blue star, sometimes known as a blue giant due to these being considerably larger than our own Sol, it is counterintuitively far hotter yet not of the shade we associate with that back on earth.

Like all my work this piece is inspired by the commercial art of the 1970s and 1980s, specifically the science fiction and fantasy art of my youth as found on book covers/video game box art/comics/advertisements/movie posters/vhs sleeves etc. of those eras.

I hope to convey the sense of wonder and outlandishness that this "genre" imparted and continues to impart in me, a future that while sometimes a little bit on the spooky side was at least thrilling and, ultimately, optimistic about humanities endeavors and adventures yet to come.
