Resistance Monument, Dom Church and Dom Tower in Utrecht The Resistance Monument is a monument honouring the Dutch resistance in World War II. It consists of a six-metre-high statue of a woman carrying a torch, symbolising the resistance. The Gothic Dom Church was built from 1254 as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic diocese of Utrecht and was dedicated to St Martin. Since 1580, the church has been Protestant. The nave, whose construction was never completed, collapsed in a tornado in 1674. The 112.32-metre-high gothic Dom tower is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and the tallest building in Utrecht. The photo was taken at dusk on 4 June 2015. Dark Utrecht. This is the name of my series of photos of Utrecht places after sunset. Most Dark Utrecht photos were shot at dusk. http://www.donkerutrecht.nl
