The biome in this area is known in Portuguese as "Cerrado". It is belief to be one of the oldest biome existing in the world (with origins that go back 40 to 80 million years!)
Is the largest biome in South America and the second one in Brazil, only after the Amazonian rainforest. The Cerrado is a fragile ecosystem, home of over 200 animals.
