The Red Arrows is a demonstration team of the British Royal Air Force. The group was founded in 1965 with seven Folland Gnat class aircraft, but this was soon expanded to nine aircraft. The Red Arrows fly at air shows around the world. They are among the very best fliers and show off their skills in their red and white jet aircraft. At the end of 1979 the team was equipped with nine new British Aerospace Hawks. These light and very maneuverable aircraft are well suited for demonstrations of this caliber. The team has approximately 60 staff members.
