The rare tau butterfly is found on the sandy soils of the Veluwezoom. So this one was photographed there in a fresh green beech forest. They usually fly around very restlessly. This one went to rest briefly on a twig. The Tau butterfly is a diurnal and nocturnal moth and is related to the night peacocks.
