Purple Canopy – where layers come to life by Gertinez Gallery

Purple Canopy – where layers come alive In this work, you look up through a canopy of branches and leaves, where different shades of purple, green and light overlap. The shapes are partly abstract, but recognisable enough to evoke the feeling of standing under trees. The layering of lines and colour creates depth and movement in the image.

The inspiration for this work came from looking up during a walk. It was not the landscape itself, but rather the play of light, colour and structure above me that caught my attention. Through deliberate editing, the natural colour has been enhanced, giving the image a more painterly and abstract character. The atmosphere of this work is calm and light, with a gentle dynamic. It invites you to pause and look, without the image becoming heavy or dominant. The work balances between nature and abstraction. With this image, I want to show how everyday moments in nature, when you pay attention to them, can turn into something tranquil and layered. The work is about looking, slowing down and experiencing space.

The combination of colour, structure and repetition makes this work a good fit for an interior where tranquillity and character come together. It can be both a subtle accent in a light space and a deepening element in a more subdued interior.
