Portrait of a Puffin, Fratercula arctica. Made on Iceland. The puffin (Fratercula arctica, also English untranslated Puffin) is a distinctive bird of the family of razorbills (Alcidae). It is easy to recognise by its black and white plumage and large bill, which is brightly coloured during the breeding season.
Because of his appearance and way of moving he is sometimes called "the clown of seabirds", and also more reverently "the priest".
