The Prinsengracht in Amsterdam is a canal running parallel to the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam city centre. The canal, named after the Prince of Orange, is the fourth of the four main canals belonging to the ring of canals.George Hendrik Breitner (Rotterdam, Holland, Netherlands, 12 September 1857[1] - Amsterdam, 5 June 1923) was a Dutch painter.The young Breitner was allowed to start an education and entered the Academy of Drawing in 1875, and the following year the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. In between, he attended the Polytechnic School in Delft for a year and the Academy of Visual Arts (Rotterdam) for a year in 1882. After moving from The Hague to Amsterdam, he attended the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten there for a year from 1886 to 1887.
