About ‘Prehistoric stone structures in Egypt's desert landscape’ by Marjan Schmit Visser
In the endless expanse of the Sinai Desert lie these mysterious stone structures: the nawamis. Built of stacked sandstone slabs, they are among the oldest known stone buildings in North Africa. Presumably, they date from the Chalcolithic era, between 4000 and 3150 BC.
