This work is called 'Praying to the Universe'. It is an expression of the impermanence of all life on earth, and the miraculous origin of our planet. Earth was created from a cloud of gas and dust, which clumped together under the influence of gravity to form a sphere. This sphere was heated by the collisions of matter and radioactive processes in its core. This created a molten layer, from which the Earth's crust, atmosphere and water formed. Earth is a unique planet because it has the right balance of distance from the sun, mass, rotation and composition to make life possible.
The universe is so immense that we can hardly imagine it. It contains billions of galaxies, each containing billions of stars. Some of those stars are so big that they would swallow up our sun if they stood next to it. We were created only from stardust, the remains of old stars that ended their lives in a supernova explosion. We are made of the same elements as the stars, but we are also more than that. We have consciousness, intelligence, emotions and creativity.
This work aims to make us realise that we are not alone in this universe, but neither are we untouchable. We depend on each other and on our planet. We need to feel responsible for our actions and our consequences. We need to pray to the universe for forgiveness, gratitude and hope. We should pray for a better future, where we live in harmony with ourselves, with each other and with nature.
