About the artwork

On an earlier walk across Mookerheide, I saw several large dragonflies flying. I decided to return once in the morning to hopefully photograph these dragonflies sitting still.

Arriving on the heath, the morning light was really beautiful, but the dragonflies were well hidden. After searching for a long time, I wanted to walk a little further, where I suddenly almost bumped into a dragonfly. The creature had hidden at the bottom of a heather bush, beautifully covered in dewdrops. Only the light there was not pretty. I am used to dragonflies flying around briskly, but this one sat completely still and did not react to my presence. I decided to be bold and gently held my finger against the creature. To my great surprise, the dragonfly climbed on it! I was then able to carefully set it down on a beautiful protruding heather branch, in the middle of the beautiful light. I then had a 15-minute photo session.

In this portrait, the backlight gives a nice effect for the wings.
