About the artwork

Mäda Primavesi's expression and posture lend a remarkable degree of self-confidence to a nine-year-old girl, even one who he said was willful and a wildling. Klimt made numerous preliminary sketches for this portrait, experimenting with different poses, outfits and backgrounds before deciding on Mäda in a specially made dress amidst a plethora of spring-like patterns. The image attests to the refined taste of her parents, banker and industrialist Otto Primavesi and his wife Eugenia, who were ardent advocates of progressive Viennese art and design. Klimt soon painted Eugenia's portrait.

Gustav Klimt (Baumgarten, now part of Vienna), 14 July 1862 - Vienna, Austria 6 February 1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter. He is considered the most prominent member of the Vienna Secession, of which he was also president for some time. Characteristic of his later works, with which he became most famous, is the decorative ornamentalism (in which he often worked with gold leaf) and the suggestive erotic symbolism. He became particularly famous for his portraits of women and allegorical works. Klimt's art came into being during an artistic golden age in belle époque Vienna and is often associated with the Jugendstil and Art Nouveau movements.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
