Porsche 959 1980s supercar dashboard. The Porsche 959 is a groundbreaking supercar that was produced between 1986 and 1989, and is widely considered one of the most technologically advanced vehicles of its time. Originally developed for Group B rally racing, the 959 became a road-legal production car and helped redefine what a supercar could be. It used Kevlar, aluminum, and Nomex to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity.
Chassis: Based on the 911’s design but updated with all-wheel drive (AWD) and fitted with a 2.85-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine. The 959 had a comfortable and refined interior, with leather seats, climate control, and sound insulation. This made it usable as a daily driver, something unheard of for 1980s supercars.
