The Porsche 911 is undoubtedly the most iconic sports car of all time. It is without doubt the car that has won the hearts of Porsche owners around the world. More than any other sports car in the 911 has won so many prestigious awards including the constructor's championship 3 times, the ultimate sports car of the year award, as well as the tuner of the year award. This, of course, underlines the fact that the popularity of this car simply cannot be denied. However, even with all the accolades it receives there are those out there who question the high cost of owning such a great car.
To answer the question 'is the Porsche 911 the most iconic sports car?' We would have to say that the answer is yes but the question should really be; how classic is it? If we look at the styling of the Porsche 911 and compare it to that of an average family saloon then we would probably see a fair amount of differences. In some respects the two-sport models are similar but in others, such as the way in which they handle (Porsche has better handling geometry whereas the 911 has heavier front springs) and in terms of the suspension, the two are worlds apart.
